Winter activities in the Zillertal

Fun and entertainment off-piste

Whether you’re into cross-country skiing, winter hiking, or spending a nice day at the Erlebnistherme (spa complex) in Fügen – even in winter the world’s most active valley has plenty to offer non-skiers and all those who just need a little break from the pistes.

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing is great for both body and spirit and is therefore one of the healthiest winter sports. Your whole musculoskeletal system is activated while you’re enjoying the beautiful winter scenery in the Zillertal. Whether you’re into skating or the classic style, cross-country skiing enthusiasts can explore the Zillertal on more than 125 kilometers of cross-country trails of various difficulty levels.

Tobogganing

During the day under the sun or in the evening under the stars, tobogganing is always great fun for the entire family. Going up the mountain on foot or via the lift, making a pit stop at a nice hut, and then zooming down into the valley – that’s what tobogganing is all about! Luckily, the Zillertal has 14 perfectly prepared toboggan runs with an overall length of about 45 kilometers. 30 of those kilometers are even illuminated every evening for some great night-time tobogganing!

We, the Pachmair family, are fans ourselves of this exciting yet challenging sport. Of course, our guests can rent our very own toboggans for free.

Winter and snowshoe hiking

Peace and quiet – the only sound that winter and snowshoe hikers hear in the fabulous Zillertal mountains is the crunching of fresh snow beneath their feet. Anyone who has ever experienced the magic of a winter wonderland far away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life knows that this activity is far more than just walking on snow. The Zillertal is a great hiking destination in winter as well, with more than 400 kilometers of well-prepared hiking trails. They range from athletically challenging tours to short, leisurely walks. Many of these hikes are even suitable for families with small children.

The tourism association as well as the ski and alpine schools offer guided snowshoe tours.

Erlebnistherme Zillertal (spa complex)

Treat yourself to a relaxing timeout at the Erlebnistherme Zillertal (spa complex)! Sit back and relax in the chill-out areas and enjoy the beautiful views of the Zillertal mountains. The large adventure pool with several massage loungers, a wave pool, rapids, an outdoor pool, western Austria’s longest water slide with a length of 133 meters, and an inner-tube slide with a length of 134 meters guarantee endless fun for all waterpark fans. The Erlebnistherme Zillertal (spa complex) in Fügen is the perfect attraction for people of all ages.
